The Strategic Role of the Creative Economy Committee Collaborates with Elements of Hexahelix Bantul

The Bantul Regency Government has formed a Creative Economy Committee with the hope that creative economy actors can collaborate in developing their businesses. This committee is tasked with unifying and aligning the existing potentials in Bantul so that they can work together.

The members of the Creative Economy Committee who were confirmed came from various representatives of creative industry elements in Bantul. This includes batik business actors, communities, academics, media, financial institutions, government and other economic elements.

The Regent of Bantul hopes that this collaboration can bring Bantul Regency to a higher level, namely the World Creative City in the field of craft arts. Bantul chooses the category of craft arts because it is considered to have advantages in improving the welfare of its people.

One of the steps taken by the Government of Bantul to achieve the title of World Creative City is by coordinating with the Indonesia Creative Cities Network. This step is considered to be able to support Bantul’s marketing so that MSME products owned by Bantul are easier and more absorbed by foreign markets.

Hexahelix Collaboration Towards Creative Cities

Before the development of the Creative City is carried out, an important thing that must be formed is the Hexahelix Collaboration. As the name implies, the Hexahelix Collaboration is formed from six factors which are described in the A – B – C – G – M – F chart:

Academia
Business Sector
Community
Government
Media
Financial Institutions

The central government plays a role in supporting regions to develop into creative cities by considering the availability of resources (programs and budget) they have. Ministries and/or state agencies conduct an assessment of the support needs proposed by the regions, and provide support that is synergistic and measurable.

At the regional level, the hexahelix collaboration mapped out regional potentials that were prepared and matured to become their own strengths and identity. At the same time the hexahelix collaboration evaluates the current position of the region, then compiles transformation steps towards a sustainable Creative City.

Each element of the hexahelix must pay attention to and carry out their respective roles so that collaboration can grow sustainably. Academics (Academia) play a role in conducting research and studies which are then used as creative motors and provide policy input to the government.

Actors from the business sector (Business Sector) play a role in encouraging creative industry productivity, facilitating production, developing creativity, expanding promotion and markets, and mentoring and funding. Community (Community) has a role to carry out creative collaboration and activities that encourage the creative sector, and provide input to the government (Government)
